Running Room “laces up” with the Mylan Relay for Hope

Running Room “laces up” in support of national HIV/AIDS campaign, joins the Mylan Relay for Hope

April 20, 2015

TORONTO, ON – Mylan N.V. (Nasdaq: MYL) and the Canadian AIDS Society announce today that the Running Room Canada Inc. has signed on as a national partner of the Mylan Relay for Hope, a cross-Canada relay to support people who are living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS.

“We’re delighted to welcome the Running Room and its community of customers and fitness enthusiasts to our inaugural relay,” said Naguib Fahmy, recently announced head of Mylan Pharmaceuticals ULC in Canada. “We haven’t yet hit the pavement, but we’re already feeling great momentum and the arrival of Running Room will play a big role in helping us reach Canadians and inviting them to run with us or to support the cause in any way they can.”

The Mylan Relay for Hope, which begins April 21 and ends in October, features a core team of 35 runners, divided into teams, who will run a total distance of about 8,500 km across Canada. Each team will be responsible for running the distance in its respective province on a westward journey that starts in St. John’s, NL, and ends in Hope, BC. As a colourful and deeply meaningful addition to the relay, runners will carry select panels of the Canadian AIDS Memorial Quilt, a grassroots project started in the 1980s as part of “The Names Project” to honor loved ones who have died from AIDS.

"The Canadian AIDS Society represents more than one hundred AIDS service organizations and more than 71,300 Canadians living with HIV/AIDS coast-to-coast-to-coast. Welcoming a national brand such as Running Room to our core team of corporate partners is a very exciting for us. We’d like to thank the Running Room team for their commitment to and leadership in supporting people living with and at risk of HIV/AIDS,” said Monique Doolittle-Romas, chief executive officer of the Canadian AIDS Society.

Proceeds from the Mylan Relay for Hope campaign will fund programs organized by Canadian AIDS Society and its 100 charitable partners across Canada – as well as programs organized by the Elton John AIDS Foundation to fight HIV/AIDS.
